We started the day at the Temple of the Golden Buddha, which is the world's largest solid gold statue, weighing in at 5,500 pounds!! Its origins are believed to go back to the 13th or 14th century, and at some point it covered with plaster to hide its identity from potential looters. An accident in 1954 cracked the plaster, revealing what had been hidden for several centuries. We also witnessed a monk blessing a new truck...our guide says this is customary for new cars. Photos to follow!
