Angkor Wat is one of the most famous attractions in the wold, and a UNESCO World Heritage site...one of two in Cambodia. This temple was constructed in the 12th century as the capital of King Suryavarman II's kingdom, and was originally a Hindu temple...now Buddhist...and we were told that it has gone back and forth between the two. Unfortunately, the best time to see Angor Wat is at sunrise, and even more unfortunately, sunrise is really early...we were picked up at our hotel at 5:00 am! (Rita was actually ready on time!) while there were a ton of visitors there for the sunrise, our guide knew a place to shoot the sunrise that wasn't as jammed as the others. It was worth it to get up early!
