Art Tour - Sunday, November 9 - Part 2

We then visited with two galleries...one of which was next to the local fish market:




My favorite work in this gallery was unusual...the artist had to have a creative mind to dream up this one:




Each of the cocoon-like structures represents the length of a street in the old city of Hanoi...the artist started with a thin thread at one end of the street, then walked the spool to the other end, cut the string, and wrapped it onto a spindle. All 91 streets!

The next gallery had an artist critique session going on. The work I liked there was related to the Malaysian Airlines disaster...an installation that was on the floor:




We spoke with the artists as we left, and one has a piece in the Speed Museum's contemporary collection! Small world! (For friends not from Louisville, the Speed is Louisville's fine arts museum.)
