Sunday Afternoon, November 9 - Part 1

Our Saigon adventure continued in the afternoon with visits to the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum.

The Reunification Palace was the former presidential palace for South Vietnam, made famous when tanks crashed through the gates in 1975, ending the Vietnam Civil War. The president was removed by a U.S. Army helicopter from a landing pad on an upper level. (A similar helicopter sits on the landing pad now.)

The 100 room residence is palatial, used today mainly for tourists and for some state functions. Here are a few shots:
