Last Day Touring in Cambodia - Part 2

Next on the day's agenda...an ox cart ride! Not the way I'd choose to travel, but fun for a short ride!




Then it was on to Lake Tonle Sap, the largest fresh-water lake in SE Asia, and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The lake and surrounding area is home to more than a million people, many of whom live in houses on stilts or in floating homes. (The latter need to be moved as the lake level rises and lowers with the seasons.)

During rainy season, the area of the lake increases five-fold, flooding the plain and bringing nutrients to the fields.
